Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, prescribe medication, and provide specialist medical care. Psychologists provide assessment and therapy to help children, young people, and families understand and manage emotional, behavioural, developmental, and learning challenges. Psychiatrists and psychologists often work together as part of a collaborative care team.

  • Our wait times vary depending on the type of appointment and current demand. We aim to offer initial appointments within 2-3 months where possible. Please contact our team for the most up-to-date information about availability.

  • Fees may vary between practitioners, as clinicians at Attuned Mental Health practise independently and set their own professional fees. Fees may also change from time to time.

    To make sure we provide you with accurate and up-to-date information, please feel free to send us an enquiry and our team will email you the current fees for the practitioner or service you are interested in, including any relevant Medicare rebates where applicable.

    There is no obligation to book or continue with Attuned Mental Health after making an initial enquiry. You are welcome to review the information and decide whether the service feels right for you or your family.

  • You can book privately without a referral, however Medicare rebates require a referral.

    To see a psychiatrist and access Medicare rebates, you'll need a referral from your GP, paediatrician, or another medical specialist.

    To access Medicare rebates for psychology services, you'll generally need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or a Psychiatrist. However, this only covers psychological treatment, not structured assessments.

  • Yes. Medicare rebates are available for eligible psychology and psychiatry services when the appropriate referral or treatment plan has been obtained. Our team can help you understand what may apply to your situation.

  • Some services may be available to participants who are self-managed or plan-managed through the NDIS. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs and funding arrangements.

  • A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP (or a Psychiatrist) is generally required to access Medicare rebates for psychology services. It is not required for private appointments.

  • Yes. We can provide a range of reports and letters where clinically appropriate, including assessment reports, diagnostic reports, school support recommendations, NDIS supporting documentation, and letters for other health, education, and community services. Any recommendations or documentation are based on a thorough assessment of your child or young person's needs. Additional fees may apply for the time required to complete the report or letter.
